Project : Children of La Baie and La Grange.

Description : Right now in La Baie and La Grange there are hungry children in need of food, shelter and an education.

- 125 elementary school age children in La Baie.
- 350 elementary school age children in La Grange.

Timeline : November, December, 2006 and beyond.

Project Coordinator, Carlton Toews has just come from visiting these areas and is now coordinating long term relief for this area.

These children are hungry and as the photos show, they are living in extremely poor conditions.

Carlton sent this update, November 8, 2006 :  

The Villages of La Baie and La Grange located in Haiti are considered the poorest areas of the Western Hemisphere.

La Baie is home to 125 Elementary School age children and La Grange home to 350.  The Children in both villages are in need of a school. The cost for 8 classrooms at La Grange is $30,000 and La Baie's 4 classrooms and medical clinic $20,000.

Last week I had the opportunity to visit these remote areas and see the needs first hand....my heart was touched deeply and I ask you to consider joinning this special project of ...embracing humanity with an act of love.....

Little Peterson a four year old boy with a little round tummy crawled up into my lap - he told me, " I am sick, my tummy hurts...I need medicine"....several others took my hand and said to me. " I am HUNGRY".

Through the Critical Care Feeding Project of Childcare International I have arranged for a feeding program to begin in La Baie November 20th. The Children will recieve a bowl of food at the start of each school day and have medical care
in the next few months.
 
I am looking for 125 Sponsors for the La Baie Sponsor Children and generous donations to build the two schools.
